Vernon Child Development Center is seeking experienced childcare teachers to help our childcare continue to grow, as we begin to return back to normal after 2020. Vernon Child Development Center (VCDC) has been a successful childcare in the Big Bend community since 1978. We are welcoming more and more families back into our childcare, and need more teachers to fill spaces!

A Typical Day:

Our childcare teachers are responsible for maintaining cleanliness of their classroom, creating developmentally appropriate lesson plans, implementing activities, ensuring children are the their main focus through the day, and meeting children's health and developmental needs.

  • Teachers will greet children and parents as they drop off in the morning and pick up in the evenings
  • Serve breakfast lunch and snack
  • Take children to the bathroom/change diapers
  • Take children outside to play
  • Implement teacher created activities through the day
  • Engage and interact with the children to build strong relationships
  • Make children the main focus of their day
  • Work proactively with a co-teacher

Preferred Skills:

  • 2+ years experience working in childcare or working with children
  • Experience creating and implementing lesson plans
  • Some college education/currently in college, degree in any field
  • Knowledge of Youngstar quality expectations
  • Knowledge of licensing rules and regulations
  • Registry Level 6 or higher

Required Skills:

  • Outgoing, friendly personality!
  • Completed training to be a qualified childcare teacher, or be willing to complete training within five months of hire
  • Willing to undergo a background check with fingerprinting
  • Willing to complete a health physical within 30 days of hire
  • Complete CPR training, mandated reporter training, and Abusive Head Trauma training
  • Proven abilities to work well with others
  • Initiative to continuously build on skills
